WHAT IS THIS DINNER WITH 7 STRANGERS SHINDIG?
Yo, nice to meet you too. Dinner with 7 Strangers (DW7S) invites members of the Georgetown community to come together for home-cooked food and food for thought. We see it as a way for any and all Hoyas to break bread and learn a little bit about each other. DW7S is the opportunity to share a meal; consider what cura personalis really means; and reflect on the Georgetown experience. It's the chance to meet new friends & mentors; take five; and appreciate the magic of a communal experience.
HOW MUCH IS THE DINNER?
Free. Yeah, you heard me. F-R-E-E. We sponsor the dinner. Give someone a hug as a thank you.
COOL DUDE. WHY WAS THIS CREATED?
We're glad you asked. Dinner with 7 Strangers was created as a way to invite everyone to the table. From from student to alumnus to professor; from one friend to another. We understand that Georgetown and its organizations can't accept every person that applies. But truth be told, we believe any Hoya should have a standing invitation to dinner.
DW7S serves us the opportunity to go beyond the whaddup?’s, the how’ya doin?’s, the yo what’s good?’s of our daily routines. Amongst strangers alike, dinner invites us to stay a little longer. To hangout and call halftime.
ME, PICK ME! WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN DINNER WITH 7 STRANGERS?
Anybody in the Georgetown community. That's the point - these dinners are open to all Hoyas*. Just head on over to the SIGN UP page. Then BAM! you're ready to go. Oh, and don't forget you need to like us on Facebook to participate.
* DC dinners require an @georgetown.edu address.
WHO CAN HOST? HOW?
Anybody can host! Simply select 'Yes' under "Willing to Host." Hosts will receive more details via email, as well as a stipend for hosting the dinner. Because hospitality is the real deal!
WHO RUNS DINNER WITH 7 STRANGERS AT GEORGETOWN?
Some things in life are better kept secret for now.
The Georgetown crew is anonymous. We're the freshmen still finding our way. We're the sophomores who are figuring out our sequel. We're the juniors who went abroad (or didn't), came back, and were like "Excuse me, what?" We're the seniors who don't believe you have to "apply for your social life" at Georgetown. We're the alums who remember why the Hilltop is special. We're the Hoyas who believe that all should be invited to the table.
WHO RUNS DINNER WITH 7 STRANGERS IN SAN FRANCISCO?
Our founder, Lexi Cotcamp, no longer runs DW7S in Georgetown. Instead, she spends her time running around San Francisco, cooking dinner and meeting new people like it's her job.
